Cuando ya casi no quedaba tiempo, y tras una lucha centímetro a centímetro contra la imposible pared, la expedición rusa ha conseguido resolver, a las 12:20 horas de hoy día 21 de Agosto de 2007, tras 7 campamentos de altura y ¡dos meses y medio de asedio a la ruta! uno de los mayores problemas que existían en el ochomilismo actual: la pared Oeste del K2. Andrew Mariev y Vadim Popovich han alcanzado la cumbre
